a few days ago, i looked down my path, and a little black and white cat was staring at me.
it had that “ i want to be close to a human but not that close” vibe. every night he comes out of the woods, and sits close but not too close, then goes out hunting.
i left a small amount of food in a bowl on the path. it was gone, and now close but not too close is about 3 feet closer.

ive heard him getting rats at night. he is welcome.
Very welcome. That's a good fren to have around. We've got 4 box traps out to thin the predatory herd since we're raising some turkeys for my in-laws. I caught the resident semi-feral cat the other night and released her. I like having her around, except when she tries to keep her generally sickly kittens right on the back doorstep.
