Fun fact I just heard: Light roast coffee actually has more caffeine than dark roast coffee. Less roasting extracts less caffeine from the bean. #coffeechain

WHAT!!!!!!
Right! I’ve been a dark roast maxi for the longest time, but now I want to try a light roast and see if it’s noticeable.
It really depends on time & temperature
Is time the biggest factor then? High temp for short time could still create a darker roast with less extraction?
It's the heat that breaks down the caffeine I'd assume.
I'm not 100% sure what qualifies as a dark roast or light roast though for time & temp varies.
But, looking at it from a weed sense, I'd imagine there has to be a sweet spot, like with decarbing cannabis to activate the THC for edibles.

It's absolutely right, in fact lighter the roast more benefits you get from your cup, but in other hand it could damage the taste. Darker the roast more you can disguise the presence of bad beans. The reality is that balance is key, better your beans lighter the roast, and your tolerance for acidity will tell you how light you go.
As an example for daily coffee i prefer the city roast, for cold brew something in between light roast and american, coffee darker than full city I'll never come close ☕💜🫂

Yes the heat from the roasting breaks down the caffeine alkaloids. If you want strong coffee, use a light roast, which you can also brew much stronger than a dark roast without giving you wicked heart burn. If I have to resort to buying a starbucks coffee for a quick pick me up I always order an extra strong blonde roast pour over. Feels like at least 2x the caffeine of a normal coffee.
Yeah, I switched to medium roast from dark right after I heard that.
Yes. And, tastes better for me too. Less bitter.
