Imagine wishing the same for your electric bill. It would be prohibitively expensive.

The same applies for most customers of paid apps. Charging a reasonable subscription allows the app to reach a broader audience and establishes a sustainable path for the creator.

I am happy to pay a monthly fee so that I remain a customer and not a product. This is far more important IMO.

I’m aware of the benefits of subscriptions for product creator but they’re easy to forget. I don’t think electricity is a good analogy in this scenario. More like buy once box software.

The problem with subscription besides forgetting to cancel is that it assumes you’re getting continuous value out of the product. When in reality you may want to use something here and there a few times when needed. One time with paid upgrades is better.

Come on, if you can deal with Nostr you can figure out how to set a reminder for yourself to cancel. Still, I agree with the sentiment that it should be much more common to select 'do not auto-renew'.

This is exactly the case for subscribing for just 1 month! I do this all the time and end up saving money over the long-term.

No, not for all scenarios as I mentioned. Spending less is better.
