Got my first egg this week too! Buff orpingtons. Congratulations! I had a lion king moment. “Ahaaa, I got a tiny egg…” I threw it into a stir fry we had for dinner and called it “the most expensive meal ever”. 
That's awesome! Yes, the most expensive "free" eggs you will ever eat. Lol
Between the cost of the chickens, coop, fence and feed that first egg cost $1000. However, last week we processed 5 roosters and today we collected a dozen eggs. “Slow.. then fast.” Just like so many things in life.
