THERE WILL BE MANY SPAM ATTACKS ON NOSTR. THEY WILL GET MORE CREATIVE OVER TIME.

WE WILL MITIGATE THEM THROUGH VARIOUS MEANS WITHOUT RESORTING TO MASS IDENTITY VERIFICATION - WHICH HAS BEEN THE MAIN TACTIC USED ON CENTRALIZED PLATFORMS.

RELAY OPERATORS AND CLIENT MAINTAINERS WILL LIKELY EMPLOY DIFFERENT METHODS SINCE THIS IS AN OPEN PROTOCOL.

I don't think that centralized platforms even do the spam prevention well. Mute here works well and I can only assume the report function gets the spam content/abusers removed from relays. So far it's working fine for me (& definitely not worse than any of the mainstream platforms) 🙌

IDENTITY VERIFICATION DOES NOT SOLVE SPAM WELL EVEN THOUGH IT IS OFTEN USED AS THE JUSTIFICATION.

THE REALITY IS IT BENEFITS THE SURVEILLANCE AND MONETIZATION OF USERS WHICH IS WHY THEY IMPLEMENT IT.
