It was an excellent day to clean up and expand our garden for next season.

We felt everything was pretty well done for the season except for the kale, and we’re getting sick of kale Caesar salads.

It wasn’t bad for our first go at gardening. This year we planted onions which didn’t do well at all…didn’t even get one. Peppers did ok, kale was rockin all season, grape tomatoes were incredible…man the flavour on those 👌🏻,

Beef tomatoes caught blight disease so they were a no go, cucumbers were a bit of a late start but good while it lasted, red potatoes & carrots were awesome and lettuce was going great early on in the season until we got a wicked rain/wind storm that just flattened it all.

Can’t complain though, we did pretty good. We now caught a “bug” and are preparing/expanding beyond the 3 raised beds we had this season by just removing the 3 beds and utilizing the entire 14’x18’ area. Super excited for next season🤙🏻

Definitely thinking about chickens, but it’s so easy to skip over to the local farm market and get fresh eggs there. We’ll see, I know the kids would like them and it will give them more responsibility.

Do you raise rabbits? That's a good way to turn excess greens into real food

No, we don’t. I’m sure rabbit tastes great but my wife loves rabbits and we do have a pet (my profile pic) dwarf martin, so convincing my wife to eventually eat them would be a hard no 🤣

I’d be ok with it, but I know the kids and my wife wouldn’t let it happen.

Well, eating them isn't the only option - you could also skin them for pelts lol

Seriously though you could potentially breed them and sell as pets for an income stream rather than a food source without violating her ethics

The profile pic is what made me wonder if you were already doing it

She would likely skin me 🤣

Breeding them to sell as pets…she would love having bunnies everywhere!

Some people with big snakes might also want some for food so don't ask too many questions of the buyers in front of the wife 🤣

The garden expansion looks amazing! What are you planning on planting for round two?

Morning☕️

We’ll be doing red potatoes again, carrots, kale, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, garlic, tomatoes and we’re going to try for red, yellow & white onions again.

Love it! Also great to see the monster trucks and mini wheel barrow. Gardening fun for the whole fam.
