Does anyone know what this is? It appears to be a fruit or seed pod. I found it while hiking in the woods in Southern Kentucky. #grownostr

I found one in my yard before. Inside was the remains of the fluffy part of a dandelion I think. I’d like to know for sure as well

It’s a gall caused by a gall wasp. If you remove the fluff and gently cut open the “shell” you’ll see a small wasp grub.
