(For you) what's the lifespan if this setup? How long will it last you should do an upgrade?

Unless software starts needing 128bit architecture I don't see why I would need to upgrade 🤔

I self host so many random things I'm not even close to using up all the cores yet

Great info thanks for sharing

Memory bandwidth contention manifests itself as a drop in performance across all cores after some threshold :)

improving concurrency is the future... divide and conquer and pub/sub architectures have a lot more uses than just scuttlebutt :)

Have you tried running Chrome on it?

will check! t-y still solution seeking

Such flex!

Coming up next: "unlicensed data centre operator" 😆

I’d say 6 to 9 years without a hardware issue. Software should be patched monthly.

My old NAS lasted just over 10 years 🥹

You're making me miss my old rack I had many moons ago. I just have two old laptops and a few raspberry pis now 😩

Racks all the way, why downgrade so hard???

Hmm. Mostly because I moved into a new house. I have a closet that I could turn into a rack if need be here. But everything I host runs on these machines with a much smaller footprint.

Doesn't your router have to play a part in this too?

How much wam

do U run a pihole?

I'm paying so much in VPSs that I want to go this route just out of comfort.
