The point is Lightning is not good enough for Normies and probably never will be. Something new has to replace it. Your statement supports that.

The best job I’ve seen done is Phoenix which abstracts pretty much all of that with splicing and other good UX techniques but still can’t insulate the Normie from on chain mayhem.

WOS solved the problem much more efficiently with small amounts despite being custodial. We have yet to see a better normie friendly option. Phoenix is great, I use that too. But it still has some normie obstacles regarding those channels and inbound liquidity setup.

I'd love to see a hardware wallet friendly lightning wallet that can tap into third party liquidity channels.
