I need to try this thanks!
Install #Linux. This kind is most user friendly and runs on the most old and not so old hardware. Version 22.04 would do. You can burn it on the USB key, boot from it to test that all things you need are working. Do a research and backup your important files before installing. https://xubuntu.org/download/ Happy to help if you have questions.

Since I first tried #Linux I am never looking back. Not having to deal with all the distractions helps preserve mental power for good things. I control when to update, there is no Registry, UI once configured is the way you want it, If you don't like something swap it for something else, Linux doesn't loose your settings, I even managed to change my desktop to a minipc and keep all my configurations relatively easy. And if you need some app that only works on windows, there is a way to make it work in a VM or in a wine bottle. Bitcoin runs on Linux, Fiat system runs on Linux mostly, most of websites run on Linux, Android and iOS are Linux based.
