They probably started out as something fun to do, but they've morphed into essentially DDoS attack.

Excuse my ignorance but what are ordinals in relation to an attack on Bitcoin ?

Spamming the blockchain with non-financial transactions. Essentially jpegs and stuff.

Satoshi was clear that other use cases than money should be done on other blockchains.

It's essentially a way to do NFTs on Bitcoin and flood the blockchain with bullshit.

Ah then an attack more than likely

Udi and Erica are the ones spinning up fud narratives and laughs at the maxis while allegedly also being behind the attack using Luxor.

They have large heavy bags that depends on misrepresenting bitcoin to bring people into shitcoins.

Ordinals are just a symptom imo. Changes to Bitcoin are the real attack vector.

Change is okay, IMO. It's a result of the change that matters.

Seems like an unintentional consequence of the taproot update if I understand it correctly.

Ehhhhh I'm still torn on this. I feel like as soon as fees fall into a reasonable range nobody will do this.

Seems like a 1 sat/vB problem during the bear.

But haven't looked into it enough to feel strongly either way.

Check this Tweet and the follow up comments from the Luxor mining team.

Perhaps, but how are JPGs different than assets on Taro?

Accidents have spawned some of the most useful utilities for goods. It's done, now let's see if it can be useful or forgotten. Let the free-market win as it always does.

Ordinals is an exploit that is used by shitcoiners to attack bitcoin.

Would stratum v2 help in any way, regarding miner choice on blocks etc… forgive, probably a naive question …

Yeah but it still works, because miners who don't agree with some behavior of a pool can just switch pool.

Trojan Horse for sure.
