I showed Nostr to a Brazilian friend—someone into neither Bitcoin nor Social Media, per se—last week. It took about 20 minutes of explaining.

What made it click was showing what 1 satoshi was worth in BRL. Until then, he couldn’t grok why anyone would ever “pay to like” (tip).

After seeing how small 1 sat is, he completely 180’d in front of me: “why would anyone insult anyone else by not paying them—are they that disengaged?!”

I found his reaction (and volte-face) fascinating.
