They’re very subjective in a lot of areas, and vary culture to culture. Individual relays could advertise themselves as doing such, and user enablable filters could do this in a way that was customizable and gave the power of choice and consent to the end user.

Yes, and they were probably into something. I’d love to be able to point you to a marketplace of filters and algos and tell you to go wild. I think that’s coming. That way it becomes purely local, and you and your family can decide for yourselves how to experience Nostr, without anyone having to tell anyone else how to.
