The individual is prime. Families & communities & other groups are abstractions. These things are important only to the degree that the individuals who form the group are served & respected. A family or community that wants to sacrifice you "for the greater good" is not your family. Groups like that are unholy & divisible abstractions. Cooperation is either mutually beneficial or it isn't cooperation at all.

This reminds me of an Objectivist podcast I listened to as a precoiner, Philosophy in Action.

Very Randian. The extension of this respecting how incentives effect every interaction no matter how insignificant.
