I’ve tried posting some non-bitcoin and non-nostr related stuff here and there. It falls flat nearly every time. Not just fewer zaps, but fewer replies and reposts as well.

Yeah conversations and content are pretty much focused on bitcoin and nostr only. No reason to post any unique stuff on here yet

The pessimists view. I’m over here getting tips from other makers, seeing cute dogs, and projects people completed or recipes they made. Receiving recommendations on books, and feedback on plants from people with more gardening experience than I have, etc. Your experience is what you make of it.

Nope. It’s a tiny amount of the same people over and over 😉

You’ve created so much content around Nostr and Bitcoin that your followers reflect that. You’ve built a specific audience. One off posts of different content don’t tend to gain traction but when a significant percentage of your posts are about a different topic I believe an audience will grow, if given time.

I think there’s truth there, as I’m definitely entrenched in the bitcoin and nostr community, but it’s also a bit of a chicken and egg situation. If there’s no measurable interest in a topic after posting a few times about it, then there’s no real incentive to spend time making posts about it to build an audience.

I’m making things purely for the joy it brings me to make them right now.

Fantastic. Any artist/creator should find joy in what they’re creating. But there are many people who also seek to find a source of income through what they are creating, on top of enjoying it, and those are the people who are going to create consistently and with consistent quality. Nobody wants shitty content. Nostr has amazing potential to be that “platform” for artists to monetize directly with their audiences, and because of the nature of Nostr and Bitcoin that support can come from literally anywhere in the world. What I’m saying is that bitcoiners on here by and large have so far been very selective about what they do and don’t support with zaps, and at the end of the day anyone who is doing art/content professionally is seeking to make money from it. No need to pretend otherwise.

I asked Mallory this also: to find specialized interests outside of BTC, what app(s) do you recommend for finding/searching out the largest variety of currently in-use hashtags?

Primal has a good tab for that

Thanks for that. I'll take a look at that tonight. Cheers.

Primal and Amethyst also have non-bitcoin data vending machines. For example, you can see all the gardening posts by using the gardening DVM.

Thank you! I'll definitely check that out, as I have both Primal and Amethyst now. I'll do a little research on how the DVMs work. I haven't interacted with those before.
