Best advice I can give someone starting a small business is:

Learn accounting.

No, you don’t have to get a masters degree in it. You do however need to understand the basics.

You don’t want to just trust your bookkeeper or CPA.

You need to understand what the numbers mean and how they impact your business.

At first it can be intimidating but it’s not that difficult. A few hours a week and you’ll be fluent enough in no time.

Do it and don’t procrastinate.
