some parents say it's selfish to not have children.

some workers say it's selfish to not have a job.

the argument is roughly the same in both cases: you're benefitting from their hard work to keep the world's wheels turning without giving anything back.

but some people have disabilities and/or are involuntarily childless.

are they selfish too?

They aren't selfish. I'm single and childless. I'm retired. I was adopted and raised by a single widowed mother and I helped her pay off the rest of her mortgage. I would say that's giving something back.

There are plenty of ways to contribute.

I think the argument of selfishness is flawed in the first place. It's based on individuals preferring their comfort, but really on nobody's expense. People suffering discomfort with own parenting then see this choice as an opinion on their own life choices.

Deeper thoughts about economy are not valid in case of your traditionalist acquittances pushing not minding their own business.

I have kids, might have third, economy needs future generations strong and I still think labeling childless people selfish is selfish and arrogant itself.
