Don't think I've ever interacted with this person but they blanket muted me just because I'm a Monero-enjoyer. I have seen their notes on my timeline every now and then and thought they were kind of funny and light-hearted. Another brick in the echo chamber I guess.

They can do whatever they want, but it just makes me wonder: Whats the point of this thing if you're only listening and conversing with people that largely agree with you in this already tiny niche? Makes even Twitter look like a thriving marketplace of ideas in comparison.

It's the only way they get to go on believing their cult, by silencing everyone they disagree with.

From that perspective, it's not so different from leftists censorsing and deplatforming.

Since that's not possible on nostr, they mute anyone who disagrees instead.

The result is the same. Continue living in lalaland echo-chamber and circlejerking with your buddies believing you're all the best and brightest.

I like Sleepy's content. Thats unfortunate. If everyone's going to circulate blocklists or mutelists on Nostr what's the point? Just use Bluesky, they love that blocklist shit over there.

Yea I had nothing against that dude his memes were funny when they popped up.

I feel the same way. Blindly using mutelists or simply muting because someone else randomly mentioned your npub in a conversation you had nothing to do with is kind of dumb...but oh well their choice.
