It turns out that DuckDuckGo is essentially a Bing frontend. Not only that, but there was also an instance where they hid Microsoft trackers in their browser. πŸ’€

Startpage, on the other hand, is literally pulling all its search results from Google, and it's owned by an advertising company. πŸ’€

Neither of them has its own index.

You know who does? Brave Search, or at least they're actively building one. I believe this is the solution we need: new search indexes instead of relying on Big Tech.

So, Brave Search is now the new web search engine on NostrNet.work , it's good enough for most of the people imo.

If you believe them, DDG claim to source results from their own index, plus topic-specific sites and #Bing so apparently it's not just a front-end for Bing.
