I ended up scoring some free ceiling joists, a tub, and shower door. Pretty sweet.

Dude where tf do you live? 😅 Was it your trailer? Or an abandoned one you came across with?
I am close to the Mexican border in the sonoran desert. There is no one for miles. With am exception of one neighbor. This place looks like it was abandoned maybe 40 years ago. It's a trip.
Do you use off grid comms - e.g. meshtastic?
Not yet. I have a $25 month plan that is in a phone as a hotspot and have that blocked up to my router with a couple of repeaters. Serves half of our 40 acres with slowish bit perfectly good internet. I want to learn more about the mesh stuff.
That sounds wild man
It really is. It's ridiculous. And I love it so much. It's a key part of my opsec. Even with gps coodernates most wouldnt be able to get to us. We are super hidden and you need 4wd to get here. Non of its in my name. I'm a ghost.
Would really love to see it someday 😁
I'm stuck in the city and I really dislike it.
I grew up outside of cities
Where abouts are you? I spent many years in the big city. Something happened and I got super depressed. I had to leave for my mental health.
I'm from Belgium. I also lived 2 years in Jakarta and I'm very much aware how bad cities are for people. I just know that I have to stack my ass off for another 3-4 years and then I can make a move.
I luckily am hardly depressed, thanks to finding Bitcoin, Nostr and carnivore.
And especially my best friend nostr:nprofile1qqspsjp3x4faxllye0vt45kkh33rwc2aw072ge8dktglgd2eqr85fasppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0gfgnr3.
Community is so important. I have been quite a hermit most of my life. I am learning how much it can help to connect. Quitting weed helps with this a lot.
Awesome! Anything that can be saved from the burn pit or landfill is a win. I love salvage- a large portion of our rebuilt house is from bits and pieces of other houses that were being demolished or rehabbed around town.
Each piece has a story to tell
Yeah. I really enjoy reusing things. It gives me a lot of satisfaction. And saves money. Took me 3 hours to demo this stuff out and it's going to work well for us. The tub is twice the size of what we are using. Ones mans trash is anothers prize.
One time I scored the power box all the breakers and the 100 amp service entrance! I gave it to a buddy to power his shop
Major score. I was an electrician in a past life so I would definitely notice that if it was still around.
Oh and all the cabinet door hinges! They are sure handy to have around.
That's a good idea. There are bunch of those there still. That is the kind of thing I like to have. I build stuff out of everything.
The free shower fit perfectly. All I had to buy was some silicone to seal it in. Huge quality of life upgrade for us. Feeling resourcefull. 🦾
Double the tub size and a glass sliding door instead of an annoying curtain. Game changer.
