On the British Airways flight from LA to London yesterday, they wanted everyone to board via biometric ID. I asked if I could opt out, and the guy at the desk said, “No, it’s required.” I said, “I’m not comfortable giving my biometric ID to companies which get hacked all the time.” He said “It’s the US government that gets the data.” I told him that was even worse, and he said I could talk to his supervisor.

Supervisor said, yeah, just show your boarding pass over on the side. So I (and my family) did.

Always ask. Always opt out.

I'm choosing not to visit the US for the foreseeable future.

Asia is my go to place now.

Many places, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore.

On my list to visit in the next couple of years:

Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Phillipines

#Asia not uniform on this.

#Vietnam - no biometrics yet, that i could detect.

#Thailand - full fingerprinting for sure, including children, and face scan, if i recollect correctly.

#Singapore - thumb prints, face scan.

#Philippines - face scan, fully orwellian database entry requirement, before you even get on the flight there.

#Dubai - face scan.

#Turkiye - no formal biometrics for transfer yet, but i think surreptitious face scan in that hallway after the transfer carryon inspection abuse. I don’t go there to visit, because the visa is basically Shengen, if i remember correctly.

They blur together somewhat, because i have to travel around Asia so much, via flying prison vans the airlines have become.

#1984 is a staple instruction manual here, except Vietnam for now.

Strangely even Vn is seen as ‘one party communist’ state from western lense, it still has lots of room to fly under the radar for a foreigner that just want to be left alone with this bs
