I'm just questioning the premise of your questions. I don't think you should be bothering to worry about that.
Organizational BTC is a very complex topic. It's not a good idea to have one person hold the keys to a "wallet." (Gosh, I hate that term in the context of BTC.) Multi-sig is the bare minimum, IMO.
I understand the concern and appreciate it, but we have to be able to meet normies where they are. I am trying to view things from the current status quo and seeing how we can integrate BTC. Telling the 65 year old treasurer that we need to burn the system down is unproductive, even if true lol

Fair enough. I would point you to nunchuck wallet's information on more complex "wallet" management.
There is no wallet "holding coins." you have the keys to open an address. "Wallets" are signing apps/devices that allow access to initiate a transaction.
Thanks! I'll take a look. Cold Card has a pretty decent video walkthrough too. But would likely be an uphill battle to get buy-in.

Bane? In what way? I understand it being an inaccurate term but idk about a bane. It helped make BTC approachable enough for a slowbro like me to get started
It's functionally and contextually incorrect. It confuses and conflates. It is not good to use it to tell people about BTC. IMO. It's caused me months of anguish trying to figure it WTF is going on.
TBH, I think that may be more of a personal thing. Without a doubt I'm sure plenty feel just like you. I, however, need to get my hands dirty and make mistakes. If it wasn't for a BTC wallet appearing to be approachable I may not have stayed interested long enough to learn about keys, signing, &c. I'm sorry it caused you so much anguish though

So do you just describe a wallet as a key management system for signing blockchain transactions?
Also, I think things like Nostr can help bridge the information/jargon gap. I asked a stupid question the other day about zap.store and it helped me understand the obvious about keys. Playing with Nostr and Amber can help solidify these concepts so that things like BTC can be understood more as they actually are
