i thought about this for a while, trying to figure out what about it bothered me. It seems a reasonable request on the surface. Then I realized what it is…you are asking others to do your parenting for you. Rather than having a real conversation with your child about why you don’t like that word, what it means, and why you don’t want them to use it, but that they can’t control others choices, you’d rather try to get other people to change so you don’t have to do that.
