The problem with European countries defending Ukraine is that they’re preaching values they don’t really practice at home anymore—and that’s a hard sell to the rest of the world.

The UK is a prime example. They’d have a much stronger case if they actually protected things like free speech and property rights. It just feels pretty hypocritical to be willing to send British people to die for these principles on someone else’s land while tearing them down in your own backyard.
