We'll be with my family on Christmas itself, so my wife and I will probably exchange gifts with each other on Epiphany. That gives more time for shopping.

We also set a more modest budget for gifts for each other than we have in past years. We'll celebrate with gifts, but it's not the most important thing to us by far.

I look forward to hearing if gift giving expectations were fully aligned! How do you mark Epiphany? Its not a part of our tradition at all.

In the Catholic tradition it marks the end of the Christmas season! I think this year we will do a second gift exchange then with my wife's side of the family, since we'll be with my side for Christmas itself.

There is also a tradition of taking blessed chalk, and using it to write a house blessing above the door to the home. It includes the digits of the year and the initials of the three Magi, so this year it is "20 + C + M + B + 24."

That is my favorite Epiphany tradition, because the chalk stays on over the whole year.
