It would be a good service to #nostr to have zaps experience as fluid as possible .. till every #nostr npub is created by default with a wallet connected to it .. Cashu ???
That’s fair enough. Primal is providing g a much needed service for onboarding normies.
Not my cup of tea tho but I’ll try to keep those opinions to myself.
If normies are onboarded directly to custodians
Bitcoin will lose its primarily value proposition.
This is how I see the ascent of #bitcoin
- it becomes a legit internet money .. not for ecommerce but for everything else aka current #nostr usecase
- then it becomes currency for small value items .. like commerce on #nostr
- then people start using it for day to day things beyond internet ..like I gave 1000 sats as a tip .. or 10 K for task rabbits .. at this point Apple and Google add it to their wallets ..
- then it becomes real currency .. with mechanisms ( that I can't fathom at this point ) for price stability .. it gets so pervasive that Govs just can't shut it down .. like I ternet itself
- then it becomes digital #gold ..
And finally thereafter .. it becomes the the self custody capital .. the promiseland ..
There may be changed in the order I described ..but the steps would be more or less same !
We are super super early !
Now if we focus on first step .. the internet money ..
The challange really is to grow #nostr exponentially.. such that #shitcoins don't have a chance of capturing this space .. I say do whatever it takes .. win is important..
if all that happens through custodians
there is no point where the government "cant shut it down."
they are extremely experience at pressuring custodians
and if they can do that they can prevent p2p exchange.
Govs will and can shutdown non-custodials too .. unless it is as pervasive as internet .. for example .. if they mandate all btc ETFs to hold part of their bitcoin with Fed , #bitcoin will crash .. or they can choke coinbase at any time ..
The idea that self custody bitcoin can sustein its weight without being pervasive is far fetched ..
Unless you have five billion people using zaps .. and it is like in the blood ..
Revolutions always happen bottom and up ..
And btw .. #bitcoin education .. as it stands today is horrible .. it is hard for tech savvy normies .. not even talk about billions of not so educated ..
Education must focus on Sats and zaps .. immutable ledger , self custody , digital capital , digital gold , ..these narratives are for macro economists :+) .. common people don't even open their ears to such talk ..

Yup .. and we don't need to tackle this block at this time .. at this point solmn goal should be
"Zap 2 billion people " till it becomes a verb ..like Google ..
Also conveying money is a tool/technology, not a universal constant guided by benevolent wisemen (for US audiences anyway). And like many other tools, has been co-opted by a few to the detriment of many.

Sir .. my wife is an electrical engineer from one of the most reputed institute ( in India ) .. when I try to talk self custody to her .. she looks at me as if I am a wall .. with no paintings or decor ..
Now I see your point with generational shift .. yes ..new kids will have it in their DNA .. but that again means another fifteen years ..
