One of the most refreshing things I’ve found from being here for the last 6 months is the almost complete lack of companies and brands. I’m not talking about advertising, but the staffed social media accounts we’ve all become accustomed to. Some are witty, others are obnoxious, but most are just boring and their posts read like they’ve been through multiple reviews with the legal department.

Now when I see a brand posting here, even if it’s one I otherwise like, my first reaction is, “Hey, are you lost?” Mostly I wonder if any of them actually want to build and engage with an audience, or they’re just kicking the tires and just think this is somewhere to regurgitate the same stuff they publish everywhere else and don’t even bother to check their notifications.

If you do manage a brand as a day job and you want your company be a true pioneer in this space where you don’t even have competition yet, here’s your opportunity, if you’re willing to put in the work to get it right.

Well said!

I'd love to try but I don't know how and I'm severely deficient in marketing sense

There are books and online courses on marketing you can take. Some are even free.

I've searched high and low for a good marketing agency (that doesn't cost $10k per month) and every marketing person I've met is just a twitter poster masquerading as a marketing person. Almost no one understands marketing, apparently. And I don't blindly trust any courses either. I detest marketing people, not one I've talked to knows their shit. Sorry im jaded HA

You should. Most are terrible. I’d suggest you start with this book. https://seths.blog/tim/

Oh cool thanks!

But I do appreciate your suggestion
