I think I'm going to join the private zaps club for next year. Its something I think everything with zaps should support, since the experience is most like cash. Most transactions are neither a secret nor an advertisement.

Is minibits having issues today? I just tried to zap you and got an error. My other zaps have been working fine.

Which one? Private as in only you and the receiver know, anonymous as you only know? Or no zap that makes it's only on lightning not nostr?
Private. It is the most cash-like in my mind.
Imo it would really be anonymous. The vendor or peer doesn't need to know its me zapping them unless it's for good or services whish private would be right.
I can go to the same shop everyday & buy a latte with cash. Eventually every barista who works there knows me. I could go once & they will likely remember me to some capacity. It would be a lot of work to truly buy a coffee anonymously with cash... depending on what is really considered anonymous I suppose.
But I do see plenty of use cases for all zap types, including public. I'd love to see all of them supported everywhere... Private just seems most like a real-world common exchange. Like you said, for goods & services... but zaps also provide an expression of value to extend into a wide variety of things. I want the memer to know I was entertained or the artist to know I was moved. I don't want someone to know I just contributed to their crowdfunded vet bill. I want everyone to know that I paid the bet I lost. The latter 2 examples being likely less frequent in my world. That's why I chose private. š
Think need to make the distinction between zaps and a lightning payment. If im paying a business it will be over lightning with no message or personal thing. When I zap its for me and the person I see value from to get it. I think public works cause show interests in the social aspect and private is for my own buying transactions.
