What do people think about browser extensions as a means of interfacing

with Nostr? I'm starting work on one to help solve the problem of

making it easier for newcomers to start interacting with the Nostr

network.

Some features I'm considering:

- One- or two-click

interactions to create a new note that quotes text found anywhere on the

web, complete with a link to the source.

- A "share to Nostr" button

for articles that lives in the right-click context menu, or perhaps as

dynamic content injected into the page itself.

- Nostr search integration in the browser address/search bar.

Discussion

I've seen a bunch of discussion on here around creating an all-Nostr internet. The browser projects, calendars, etc. are certainly super cool. I'm just not sure that asking people to ditch Web 2.0 entirely will have a broad appeal in the short term.

I personally would want to see a Nostr Analytical tool that would basically map your interaction and engagement like X and IG does. You would see with you Npub the amount of followers in time, likes, engagement and all.

A lot of “influencer” or people in the social media space are interested in Nostr but have no tools to compare.

That's an interesting thought. As far as I understand, things like followers and engagement are a bit harder to track on Nostr vs other platforms because it's decentralized.

So, to get the data, you'd have to crawl relays and look for profiles that have your npub in their follow list. A first pass at the concept would probably be approximate, but maybe good enough to help people make the jump. I'm sure it'll get easier over time as Nostr devs continue to add DVMs to the ecosystem.

There are a couple stats on nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg web version so they know how to do it, not just the full package

I like this idea. I made a note for myself so I can follow up on it when I get the chance.

Or someone else may get to it first, it seems there's a lot of discussion going on about how to create a good onboarding experience.
