Yes but your identity is tied to the instance you registered on. And the user experience is way better

nah
My fediverse experience was near-zero engagement followed a month later by a no-notice rug-pull.
Nostr fixes this :D
Nostr does seem better for engagement lately
.
The cool side of the fediverse lost too many users it seems
It seems much quieter on your side.
I used to get a lot more interaction, but maybe I’m banned from parts of the bridge?
Not sure how that works.
The fediverse is difficult to navigate because you have to determine who you want to talk to and move as close to them as possible. Ultimately the only way to talk to almost everyone is to make a large number of accounts under different names on different servers so that the identities don't get poisoned for talking to the wrong people and get you banned/ defederated for being on "bad" instances.
The sad truth is that almost nobody actually wants free speech, they just want *their* speech to be free, which limits how successful nostr can get. People love getting other people banned and the power to ban people. Even trolls secretly want to get banned, who would mel gibson fan be without his ~70 banned xitter accounts?
Sounds about right, re fediverse.
And probably true, re trolls and banning.
When I was 20ish and had free time, I remember how easy it was to get popular political forums to ban even their public donors just by raising the right topic...
That’s fine, Nostr can remain small.
Free speech for all.
