I really wish BitcoinCore had a mobile UI instead of a desktop one. I think that would have massively changed the way the software is built, the way it communicates with other apps and the minimum requirements to sync the chain. Plus being default on mobile means that anyone could get a first class experience, not only desktop users (which are very very few of us).

Yeah, they did. You can't really expect desktop code to run well on mobile though. It's a different thing.
