I really wish BitcoinCore had a mobile UI instead of a desktop one. I think that would have massively changed the way the software is built, the way it communicates with other apps and the minimum requirements to sync the chain. Plus being default on mobile means that anyone could get a first class experience, not only desktop users (which are very very few of us).

i think they tried the node in the phone 😭 but i understand where you're coming from

Yeah, they did. You can't really expect desktop code to run well on mobile though. It's a different thing.

Not many websites were really optimized for mobile in 2009.

Plus, it would have been crazy to mine on mobile in those days. :)

I would’ve loved to try though 😂

I need to get Nostr running on my phone.. I've always been a desktop person..

Which phone do you have?

Samsung S-24

Just download Amethyst or Primal. Super easy.

Or knots?

👀

Yep, some similarity there. The core app block status was designed before the timechain calendar, maybe they took some inspiration. But then again, who really cares. Main thing is that we have some badass software.

I appreciate what you guys are doing and if it is ever implemented I would be interested to help. What’s important is Bitcoin is seen. TC live on web since ‘22 and my new mobile app is in review being tested. We are all on the mission.

Great work you're doing, very much appreciate it. Looking forward to the app.

The Bitcoin Core App is making progress. The block status has been implemented for the most part and the basic wallet features are there as well. Currently, the dev team is sorting out some stuff around code organization and build system - basically how this new application code fits in with the rest of Bitcoin Core code. And then afterwards we'll get back to UI implementation. Fingers crossed we can get a public release within a year or so, once the implementation has reached feature parity with the current QT GUI. It's a big, big project.

By ui do you mean the wallet? Because there are a good amount of node runners but id bet <5% of us use core's wallet.

Ive even got some motivated noobs with core on their laptop but for the actual wallet features I get them on sparrow (connected to their node) because core's wallet is... not great.

It sends and receives, what else do you need? :)

A lot more 😅

You can build Bitcoin Core for Android and run it. The problem is that phones dont come with a terabyte of storage to run a node.

True. Plus, as more people upgrade their phones from 3G/4G to 5G, many could repurpose their old Androids to run a BTC node. Expand storage with a memory card. Feasible, nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z ?

"Here's a breakdown of SD card types and their capacity limits:

SD (Secure Digital): Up to 2GB.

SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity): More than 2GB up to 32GB.

SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity): More than 32GB up to 2TB.

SDUC (Secure Digital Ultra Capacity): More than 2TB up to 128TB."

#Bitcoin / #BTC #Knots for #Android would be better. 🤙

there is bitcoind for arm64 aarch64 platform - u can always run it 1GB pruned mode in dedicated phone. all depends on applications / use purpose

minipc size of match box +12V = is mobile portable platform with no screen or remote screen

Way too complicated. It should be a simple app, install create wallet, receive and spend. That's it.
