Where is the best place to buy BTC and are ledgers still regarded as a good cold wallet? #bitcoin
Discussion
I use a blockstream jade. My guess is 95% of the people here use a coinkite
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a coinkite?
A cold card or whatever they’re called. Coinkite is the company. It’s nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8
Ledgers are no longer cold wallets stay away!
Really? What changed? That seems suicidal for their company.
They decided to give the option of splitting your key and giving parts or it to third parties. Its opt in and the ledger S doesn't have the ability of doing it. CoinKite is still the better option IMO.
Where are you located?
In Europe, nostr:npub1sqzr42dj8vx32yd5jcvvl3ytux45kl0etgf6y2ymjvmd7lqmuwmqk9vk7v is very good choice. You can stack straight to your cold storage or use Relai wallet where you control your keys.
For a harware wallet I would recommend something fully open source like Jade, Passport, Bitbox or Trezor
