Bitcoin cannot handle adoption anyway. There is no way to pay for things with Bitcoin that doesn't suck. The lack of adoption is mostly cause by Bitcoin itself being so bad. In fact many ossification-enthusiast Bitcoin influencers are actively against adoption right now maybe because of that reason, or because they want to make a point about "time preference"; or perhaps because they would lose proeminence if more people started using Bitcoin.
