It is sad to see. He is one of a number of older guys who are in denial. They just haven't done the work to understand it.

They are like people driving a horse and cart 100 years ago, trying to tell us why the automobile it never going to take off!

I would much prefer if he understood it, but the irony is worth the disappointment

It's now a sunk cost falicy for him. The more he talks it down in public, the more he will be biased against it.
