I don't know exactly when things changed, but I remember back when the options for certain features was 'yes' or 'no.' Now, it seems like the options are always 'yes' or 'maybe later (we will keep bugging you forever).'

Some software is good about not doing this, but it's a minority. There are some things I simply will never want. Not now, not later. And even if I do, I can find it without being reminded about it forever. It just seems like a dirty way of not taking no for an answer.

some form of feature creep

It’s a dark design pattern that should be rejected strongly.

One of the reasons why I want to ditch Signal now.

Ah, fuck. What did Signal do? I don't recall seeing this yet. Although, I use the Molly client on Android so maybe that's why.

Still using windows? 🙂

I don't use Windows.

Nice. I heard Windows 10 is doing full screen popups with that same wording to push people into 11.

I don't see a point in resisting it. It's not like Windows 10 is some respectful OS that becomes tainted in 11. It's been spyware for years. At least they are letting their users see and use the NSA spy tools as a "feature" now.

Actually, I've been running GNU/Linux for over 15 years. That doesn't shield me totally from this issue.

Coersion sucks in software as much as it does irl

Microsoft....sucks

Why do you people keep bring up Microsoft and Windows? I don't use Windows and didn't even mention it here.

Because it does that, obviously

Doesn't surprise me.

I don't keep up with what they do now, but I wasn't too happy 15 years ago when I left so I can only imagine how much worse it has gotten.

Way worse
