I agree with this.

I think it even goes down to the way you consume content.

For example a lot of people complain about sports as bread and circus. If you are a man child putting your ego into living vicariously through other men then that is pathetic. If you are appreciating the art form of sport, thinking about the strategy, the emotions, the values that shine through in peak performance: that is artful.

Yeah, I can appreciate an impressive performance of any kind. So I'm rarely unhappy if someone offers me a ticket to a game. But the culture around sports is beer & tribalism which I don't like, & generally speaking I just don't care that much about any of the rest of it either.

As a former athlete I just ignore that stuff and try to appreciate people trying to achieve peak performance as an art form
