If someone assaulted me, but they weren't effective, or I am capable of staving them off with no potential for reprocussions, I'd laugh. No fear possible there.

I believe the anger from someone assaulting you, successfully, is due to the fear that you cannot protect yourself, that it may happen again, or that you will get arrested after defending yourself. There are plenty of other potential fears that will be instantly at play before they become conscious fears.

Stuff being stolen is similar. You feel violated and vulnerable. You fear you may not get your things back, that your income may be wasted trying to recover, and/or afraid that it might happen again, or repeatedly.

Meh. That's not my view on those situations at all. Anger and fear are certainly often connected, but... Not always nor should they be.
