I am starting to be more curious as to what people think about this particular topic.
Considering that I am literally violently opposed to child abuse, I will likely end up on whatever side lets me NOT allow CSAM to be immortalized on the BTC blockchain. And if that eventually means that I do no use BTC, so be it. Morals > money. Always.

Yes, though in a vast majority of cases, this is completely without intent.
But, it is also a serious attack vector, both for BTC and for noderunners.
I am glad I haven't run a node yet, TBH.
nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr's last video was helpful on digging into this, looking at the difference between obfuscated data some fool managed to slip into the blockchain, and files that require no reconstruction whatsoever being unencrypted on your device when transactions are verified.
I know there'll be some terrible stuff on the blockchain, like there is on the internet or anywhere else. But I'm not interested in encouraging more, storing it for others, or having those files on my hardware.
I will likely need to watch that and more.

That’s essentially my biggest beef with Bitcoin (and all the other forever protocols). I don’t think human lives are designed for eternity and this is a very good example.
