It takes longer for a fiat transfer to show up. Maybe your perspective is just wrong, or you're new to it.
Yes, a fiat transfer takes longer (it can take 1 - 3 days normally)

If you fuck up a Bitcoin transfer there is ZERO recourse

Doesnt the tx go into the mempool immediately though? Your wallet should indicate the tx is there waiting pretty much immediately.

In your case though, as long as you entered the receiving address correctly it won’t get lost. Ie it either gets mined there or stays where it was (where until confirmed - it was all along).
No matter how many times I make a BTC transfer and no matter how many times I cross reference the address my ass still puckers!

Your ass *should* pucker; because it's all on you. Otherwise, you risk eventual complacency resulting in your neglecting to triple-check the receive address.
Yes, this is a total mindset shift from "trust me bro" custody. To the extent this necessary shift dissuades someone from self-custody, they don't yet understand *why* we self-custody.
