In my experience corn seed should always be direct sown, rather than transplanted due to the large tap root. Once disturbed the corn plants generally will not recover well, and may not mature or produce.

You are probably right, however, the place where I want to grow them is not ready yet. And the kids were happily busy with planting all kind of seeds and doing their thing. 🤞 Fingers crossed that the transfer goes smoothly.

Yeah I get wanting to be early but in my past experiences the jump you think you get by planting early is offset once you transplant.

As a test, drop a few seeds in the ground at the same time you plant out these seedlings. I can almost guarantee the seeds you plant later, even if they are a couple weeks later will vastly outperform the transplants. GL! 🌱
