I'm sure anything can be misinterpreted, but in this context, the author is writing about a man and his relationship with his partner. As he writes "your woman". I would assume most men that claims a woman as his, is beyond the asking out stage. However the book is a good read. "The Superior Man" by David Deida. A full read may have better context.
