Welsh and English never see eye to eye. Welsh see them as invaders. Saxons and Normans. Robbed our land. Imposed a royal family on us. Banned us from speaking our native tongue. Built castles to protect themselves and impose their will upon us.
Who's "they"? A few people long dead. My last name is not my true name, just as yours isn't. My grandparents spoke welsh. My parents and I do not. The men who built the castles are long dead. Live free in your heart, brother.

From a psychological perspective such animosity is at an unconscious level. A residue from the time the Romans invaded and battled the Silures perhaps. Where i grew up in the valleys the high ground...mountains...are littered with ancient Celtic camps. Defences against the invaders. On one site there's even relics of a stone circle knows as the Welsh Stonehenge. The camps were built by the Silures. They were summer camps where they would take livestock to graze the high ground then return as winter drew in to the lower, warmer regions.
The image below is a pot found in Llyn Fawr where, on their summer journey, they would throw votive offerings into the lake.

As for names...Latinised/Romanised...was refering to your nostr handle. Found it funny a 'Taff' using , Secessaio Plebis, such language...was the language of the invading Romans who called us Taffs. Used to disrespect the Welsh. My friends all call me Taff. Luv it!! 🤣🤣🤣
