You can run your own mint on a server. Have to set a password on the configuration file. I run my own cashu mint, Dnuts, and it’s pretty awesome, your own eCash backed by BTC. In terms of scalability, cashu is one of the better solutions I’ve seen.
You don’t have to run your own mint to start using cashu tho. You can get started at cashu.me, generate a lightning invoice for deposit and get the nuts in return. You can also pay lightning invoices with the wallet. PV!
Awesome! I had issues paying lightning invoices with nutstash but not with cashu.me wallet.

You can run your own on LNBits. LNBits is on many nodes like Umbrel and Embassy OS.
One problem with running this on your own node is that the mint tokens are not transferable. As far as I know, the nuts on LNBits are not accepted at wallet.nutstash.app.
All mint tokens stay on the mint. They never move off. They are only created and burned. Only Bitcoin over lightning moves in/out of mints.
It’s a beautiful system:)

Also, you can add numerous mints on that web wallet (just like) Cashu. It holds the ecash you have on each mint.
You can exchange nuts between mints with cashu.me tho #[6] has said to be wary of that feature for now and only use sats you’re willing to lose.
