Yes, and it looks nice.

🤩

People peruse my gallery. I can see them reacting and zapping things, or writing comments.

This whole War on Kind 20 is driven by Primal. Everyone knows that their users can't see anything except kind 1 and 30023, so all other implementations are supposed to twist themselves into a pretzel. 🥴

Which just makes me want to kind 20 even harder, of course.

What is Kind 20

Asking for a friend

"olas images" images that you upload via the media feed on Amethyst.

Implemented in:

Amethyst, Lumina, Jumble, Olas, Alexandria, Coracle, Nostrudel...

Even on noogle

What's the benefit to just a regular old upload of a picture or something like that?

The idea is that you can create media apps, more in the direction of Instagram or Tok Tok. These kind20 images will end up in your profile gallery for example (for photography, art, whatever content people like to show on their profile), while regular uploads are more casual in the normal feed.

Oh right, yeah, well that makes sense because that Instagram format is hugely popular.

Thanks, yn I always wondered what the difference was when uploading things.

I can switch my content bot to pure kind 20 mode. 😁

Primal doesn't want to be nostr. They want to be just another social network that they control. Fuck em. Don't make the cool new stuff work in primal, just let their users go without. They will get the hint or they weren't really nostr people anyway.

I will laugh so much when they all need to KYC to use primal

Primal can make use of anything new on nostr. As can any client. And no one can stop them.

I'm not saying stop them. I'm saying stop bending over backwards to make it work for them and their users if they insist on not implementing common nips themselves.

They totally dragged their feet on kind 30023, too. We just moved so much content over there, that they finally gave up and integrated it.

I shall repeat this magic trick.

LOL, just checked. New replies to kind 30023 on Primal are still kind 1, instead of kind 1111.

And kind 1111 replies don't show up there. Whatever.

Are their users aware that we can see them, but they can't see us? 🤔

I fairly regularly see people doing introduction notes saying they're new to Primal, not new to nostr. I've never used Primal, but I infer from this that Primal wants to be... primal.
