Sometimes I think about what society would be like if we were the second intelligent species to evolve on our planet after the first one died out.

Let's say humanity destroys itself, but the evidence of our existence will persist for hundreds of millions of years. In that time a new species could evolve that harnesses technology like we do in the present, and they would do it with the knowledge that they were not the first to do so. Could you imagine how that knowledge would shape their society? Would that knowledge be enough to prevent them from making the same mistakes we did?

Someday I hope to write a novel or series based on this concept.

No.

We’re making the same mistakes our ancestors did just 100 years ago.

You think a few centuries would make a difference?
