Honest Question: What the heck does Canada even export other than maple syrup?
17 US states have Canada as their biggest trading partner. Alberta sends 5 million barrels of oil a day.
There will be a last minute negotiation, Canada will spend a ton securing border and stop fentanyl and they will form/build a joint base in the north with the US.
Canada will then start actually building shit again to diversify its customer base for its resources.
Energy, machinery, lumber, minerals. US is by far their biggest trading partner, 3/4 of exports go to the US
Oil! Oil! And again oil!
Or Tariffs get steeper, loonie depreciates further because Canadian central bank has to cut rates to deal with a massive recession, US states that trade big with Canada get pissed, US refineries get pissed cause they have to now source their heavy crude from Venezuela, and Trump has a revolt on his hands of the governors of these states, gas prices get higher, and US citizens start to realize that cheap Canadian energy is far more necessary than they have been lead to believe.
Basically all hell breaks loose and no one is better off, other than the few industries Trump is attempting to pump. It will be an absolute shit show, on both sides.
It may actually help Canada get some shit done, if they can stop biting the hand that feeds them, which is Alberta.
Their soldiers are already here, it’s just a question of when will they be activated .
