This is a community helping each-other.
Bring in a machine and you eliminate all those connections and replace it with a contractor and his workers.
Whether or not the company is good people or not. The Amish thrive on handshakes and hard work.

It's dumb. We have machines now so people don't have to break their backs.
You're saying we should of stayed living in caves when everyone was a caveman because cave people had more connections.

Live how you want. Gatekeeping is a fools errand.
Use your machines. I use machines. But condemning a group for cooperative living is silly
I'm not condemning them. They can live how they want. What I'm saying is what they do or how they live isn't astonishing.
I disagree. I wouldn't give up tech.
But the health and happiness of this way of life is not to be ignored.
There is a lesson in it that I feel shouldn't be overlooked.
People being able to navigate a fulfilling life in modern times, I would say, is astonishing
150 men to move a barn is not astonishing. It's been done before. It's also dangerous and someone could get hurt. That's we we invented machines.
How do you know they are happy? The Amish and other types of Amish have their own problems and if you are raised in that community it's hard to leave. They will disown you. Some young people are trapped in their community.
I'm not impressed by them.
Machines hurt people too. But i don't think thats the crux in this back and forth. Neither is how dangerous a project is.
Everyone has problems. But i'd put my stack down on their tribe on average being way more fulfilled and happy than the average American.
I'm not fixated on the word Astonishing. But impressive they still make it work. Definitely
