My daughter just accidentally deleted a year's worth of photos from her iPad with the 'Erase all content and settings' (she meant to only reset settings). She had hundreds of pictures of her baby sister on there. Many firsts, many memories. She's very upset (and so am I).
...is there ANY WAY to restore? I'm somewhat handy at the command line but don't know much about Apple products...

Was iCloud active on the device? If so you might be able to recover them.
No iCloud 😖
Search “restore from previous time iPad” on google and see if that helps.
