My daughter just accidentally deleted a year's worth of photos from her iPad with the 'Erase all content and settings' (she meant to only reset settings). She had hundreds of pictures of her baby sister on there. Many firsts, many memories. She's very upset (and so am I).

...is there ANY WAY to restore? I'm somewhat handy at the command line but don't know much about Apple products...

Any idea if they were synced to iCloud?

Were you backing those up to icloud or anything? We're the only copies of those photos on the iPad itself?

she doesn't have an iCould account...

#asknostr

Are they still in the recently deleted section in the photo app?

Nope, she basically did a factory reset

iCloud back restore (if photos were selected to be part of iCloud backup)

first step is to make a bit-by-bit clone of drive so nothing further gets overwritten.

the data should still be there if has not been overwriiten.

been a long time since i used apple but i would be surprised if open source or relatively low cost recovery software cant retrieve.

if is smartphone, might involve jailbreaking (rooting) device, and i'm not sure whether you can access drive via data cable etc.

Worth a shot thank you. No clue how but this points me in a direction at least

Found [this](https://www.easeus.com/iphone-recovery/ipad-data-recovery-application.html) from EaseUS but am hoping for something I can run in Linux
